Abstract
  • Improving the quality of preaching in the Catholic Church has been ongoing since the beginning of the Church. In recent times, the faithful have advocated for better communication of the Word of God from their priests. One pragmatic preacher in recent times is Pope Francis, who has emerged as one of the greatest preachers of the twenty-first century. There is debate about the influence his preaching model may have on the daily engagement of other priests with the faithful. This study seeks to answer this question: Can contemporary parish preachers adopt Pope Francis' preaching model to enhance their proclamation of the gospel? The hypothesis is that preachers can effectively adopt the preaching model of Pope Francis and, thereby, personally improve their preaching abilities.
