  • This project seeks to answer the question, Can Dr. Fred Craddock's indirect (often referred to as inductive) method of preaching be taught? Working pedagogically from the premise that sermonizing is more adequately taught by means of a specific form, the guidelines of deductive preaching have been applied to Craddock's indirect method. The reason for such a procedure is to provide students whose background is in deductive preaching a form by which they can initiate the process of constructing indirect sermons. The author applied the method in an undergraduate homiletics class and wrote the project report as a novel.
