- Abstract
- This project details the designing, testing, and evaluation of three sermon critique forms for use in the three labs of the preaching lab sequence at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Data for preparing the forms are gathered through the use of a practice preaching questionnaire to thirty-six theological seminaries, Bible colleges, and Bible schools. The philosophy of preaching that serves as the foundation of the project is delineated. Using the information gathered from the survey, together with criteria drawn from research in homiletics, classical rhetoric, and modern secular speech, three sermon critique forms are designed. Assessment instruments are used by both instructors and students to report their evaluation of the forms. Finally, the project as a whole is evaluated, conclusions are drawn relative to homiletical training, and suggestions are offered for future projects of this kind.
