  • Using the spiritual discipline of lectio divina, the purpose of this project was to restore spiritual vitality to a group of individuals who believed they had been abandoned and abused by the institution of the church. This project brought together sixteen individuals in ten weekly sessions of training in and practicing of lectio divina. Although lectio divina worked as expected, the discovery of the overwhelming need among this group for community proved to be an unexpected asset in the quest for renewed spiritual vitality. One participant exclaimed, 'I didn't realize how my need for fellowship affected my walk with Christ.'
