Abstract
  • The arts have the power to be material conduits of grace that give substance and definition to each of the multiple steps of Christian hospitality for a local church. The author and his rural congregation offered five forms of art-based welcome to the community to test this thesis by informal interviews, observations, questionnaires and theological reflection. Evaluation of these initiatives affirmed that they substantially broadened and enriched the hopitality of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Townsville, North Carolina.
