Abstract
  • The focus of this project is to develop African American pastoral leadership with a theologically and holistically sound training curriculum to fill the need for responsive, caring leadership especially in urban African American communities. A training manual was created and used at Allen Temple Baptist Church, Oakland, which developed models for appropriate responses to current and future needs. This model was based upon a critical analysis of the social and economic issues facing African American pastors and the role of the Black church in their training.
