Considering the multitude of proposals and resources currently available concerning the revitalization of the Church, the author believes the basic element of repentance has been ignored or overlooked. he presents a case study of seven urban churches engaged in the process of becoming one congregation. He uses the story of his ministry setting as a springboard to explore a theology of corporate repentance as a prerequisite for renewal in the church. he researches Scripture, church history, secular and religious writings to examine the implications of this theology for leaders who seek to lead the Church from survivalism to new life.
