Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to lead a select group of adults from First Baptist Church (Luverene, Alabama) to a better understanding of and a deeper commitment to the separation of church and state. A program consisting of lectures, panel discussions, case studies, handouts, and outside speakers caused project participants to think through their understanding of the importance of church and state separation. The project participants gained a better understanding of the separation of church and state. The group experienced a new commitment to maintaining a free church in a free state.
