- Abstract
- The intent of this thesis was to develop a ministry for older adults that would allow them to remain in their homes as long as possible. Volunteer care givers help the elder in need with the daily tasks required to sustain independent living, tasks the elder can no longer perform on his or her own but who has no family or other care giver to help do. Ongoing over site for the ministry will be the responsibility of the Parish Nurse Program (or other organization within the church if no parish nurse) who will provide administration, recruitment and training for volunteers. Volunteers for this ministry will be recruited from among elders themselves who don't yet need assistance. A model in ministry was developed to authenticate this project.
