- Abstract
- This project explores five different models for the spiritual practice of discernment and considers the role of this practice in Christian, contemporary, controversial decision-making. It utilizes a method of Participatory Action Research in order to develop a model of communal discernment for congregational use. The research discloses that congregational spiritual leaders can, indeed, embody the Word in leadership and decision-making in the midst of the complex organizational cultures of our time when we do not know, or agree on, where we are headed, by engaging fully and deeply in the Christian practice of communal discernment.
