Abstract
  • This project explores practical, psychological and theological issues related to domestic or intimate partner abuse of women. A Bible study curriculum developed by this project designed to break cycles of violence and diminish occurrences of recidivism by abuse victims and is included along with the candid interviews of 11 survivors of domestic abuse. The curriculum can be presented by Christian care providers to help abuse victims envision and establish new lives with enhanced self-esteem through a liberating hermeneutic employing a theology of God's love when interpreting biblical texts historically used to oppress and hold women captive in abusive relationships.
