Abstract
  • This project in ministry demonstrates the first phase of the Roman Catholic Church's initiation process for adults and its implementation in the setting of a Catholic university. The final document examines each element of the four major phases of the Catholic initiatory process by considering academic-year scheduling constraints and its effects on students, and by describing needs of student-aged persons seeking membership in the Catholic Church, and provides a flexible methodology for implementing the first phase, the period of inquiry, in a university setting. Positive evaluation results indicate that student participants in the period of inquiry grew in their ability to share faith experiences, came to understand gospel stories, and moved to a deeper stage of faith commitment.
