Abstract
  • The purpose of this assignment was to train teams of short term missionaries to serve in two newly started churches, or church plants. Interactive learning experiences helped participants through an understanding of God's call and how God equips believers through spiritual giving and personality type. These newly formed teams studied attributes of effective teams to implement best practices in communication and problem solving. The missionaries became aware of ways personality impacts the behaviors and attitudes of themselves and their teammates. Seven participants discovered new spiritual gifts and the majority of the group grew in confidence as to how their spiritual gifts could be used in a church plant setting. The missionaries became more confident in team-based ministry. the missionaries emerged knowing the gifting and personality strengths of teammates and with goals to make their teams more effective. Both the author and participants found the training modules an enjoyable and effective educational experience.
