Abstract
  • This project is a comprehensive study of the recently instituted Statement of Values in the Correctional Service of Canada and its relation to a theological and biblical construct of the chaplaincy program. Chapters one to three include a presentation and analysis of the Statement of Values, an assessment of the Statement through relevant interviews and a study of chaplaincy itself. Chapters four through seven take a biblical perspective which, unlike psychological and sociological perspectives, has been neglected in the past and should contribute greatly to the shaping of the vision and role of chaplaincy. While it is specifically prepared for administrators and chaplains familiar with the Correctional Service of Canada, the document also enables professionals of other disciplines to understand and benefit from the author's intent.
