Abstract
  • The purpose of this Doctor of Ministry project is to create opportunities through which God's grace may be mediated to congregational members through private devotion, study, and fellowship in the reading of short stories. The project demonstrates that the modernist view of the ego-self can be overcome on the level of human experience with the assistance of divine grace. The affliction and beauty reflected in short stories are the sources that mediate divine grace, and they aid the renunciation of the ego-self and lead human beings to focus attention on the world and the embodiment of God's love.
