Abstract
  • The purpose of this project was to equip selected senior adults of Maytown Baptist Church of Maytown, Alabama, to mentor younger adults toward the practice of biblical family living. Mentors were enlisted for training in biblical principles concerning the ministry of mentorship, the happy functioning of a Christian family, and the distinctive biblical teachings concerning the various family roles. Training consisted of four sessions which were held on a Friday evening and a Saturday morning as part of a seminar for senior adults. The project director wrote and presented a vision for mentoring ministry and the path for the steps needed to achieve the vision. The experiences of planning the seminar, teaching the seminar, and evaluating the seminar provided valuable insight into the process of training senior adult mentors. The project director became convinced that faithful Christian senior adults are the greatest untapped resource for instruction and encouragement in family living for younger adults. The senior adults of Maytown Baptist Church became enriched in their knowledge and desire to serve succeeding generations in Christian family living.
