- Abstract
- This project focused on transforming lives and rescuing urban youth from at-risk behavior through a community-based 'comprehensive' after-school program. Edgewood Baptist Church in Old Dayton View in Dayton, Ohio was the location for this program. The objectives for this project were to empower youth to make responsible choices concerning their future. An eight-week session curriculum was developed on preventative education to promote healthy lifestyle choices. The quantitative method included a pre/post test survey given to a sample population. The model was proven to be an effective tool for an African-American church in reaching at-risk youth.
