Abstract
  • Servant leadership, a model for managing volunteer church workers, is defined. Its history is traced and its philosophical rationale is explained. The model was taught to the administrative staff of Trinity Lutheran Church (Utica, Michigan) through weekly meetings, workshops, readings and interviews. The staff successfully learned to apply the 'servant leadership' model in efforts to staff and direct volunteer ministries.
