Abstract
  • The United Church of Canada does not have a programme of Christian initiation of its own. This dissertation/project assists in meeting this need by producing a set of presuppositions for Christian initiation composed of theological assumptions, goals and guidelines for use in designing a programme of education for Christian initiation for youth and adults within the United Church of Canada. The first obvious question, 'do any other denominations have good programmes available?' led to a study of some samples of selected mainline Canadian and American churches. Insights and new directions were discovered which were taken into consideration in the guideline for a new programme.
