- Abstract
- How do you take a man who is a potential candidate for an elder and prepare him for that position? Generally speaking, the traditional approach has been for churches to form a nominating committee. The committee then picks the best available men in the church, the congregation or Board of Elders then votes on and appoints these men to the Board. The problem with this approach is that it does nothing to prepare men for the most important position that a human being can hold: an elder or overseer of the church of God. This, from a practical standpoint, must involve training and discipleship. This project outlines one approach to that process.
