Abstract
  • The intention of this project is to describe the opportunities pastors have as participants in making decisions related to funeral events, to identify the options which are characteristically available to pastors as participants in making those decisions, and to provide a procedure for pastors to describe and critique their own choices among the alternatives available to them. The purpose of this study is to address the issue of the pastor’s role as a participant in decisions affecting the funeral event. It is my intention and profound hope that this project will enable my pastoral colleagues and me to better minister to the bereaved at the occasion of a funeral by exercising more creative choices which might be available to us in such events. The findings of the study will be shared willingly and as widely as possible.
