  • The thesis of this project is that U.S. diocesan priests grow in identity as preachers when they engage in the practice of Lectio Divina in preparing homilies. Roman Catholic priests and parishioners participated in this case study. The researcher provided a one-day workshop on Lectio Divina and preaching preparation for the priests. He utilized focus groups for gathering qualitative data from both priests and parishioners. The study concluded that Lectio Divina strengthens and nourishes priests' personal satisfaction and identity as preachers by rooting their homilies more deeply in scripture and in their personal spiritual journeys.
