Abstract
  • The purpose of this project is to study the relationship between the baptismal theology of the church as it is expressed in the Lutheran Book of Worship and the baptismal theology of the active, confirmed members of Incarnation Lutheran Church (Bridgehampton, New York). Through use of a questionnaire, scores in six facets of baptismal theology (christological, soteriological, ethical, eschatological, sociological, and ecumenical) were compiled for the parish. The relative strengths of these facets in descending order were: ecumenical, christological, ethical, sociological, eschatological, and soteriological. The baptismal theology of the church expressed in its liturgies was found to be different from the baptismal theology of the members of Incarnation Lutheran Church.
