  • This study explores the development of a tolerant asymmetrical ambassadorship (TAA) as constructive public theology based upon the Chaplain Corps, United States Navy. Tolerant is providing pastoral care to all people whatever faith tradition. Asymmetrical is an attitude of mobility--anytime, anywhere people are found. The ambassadorship is a representative relationship of the chaplain's own faith tradition. Deriving TAA from the function of the ministry in Chaplain Corps history's narrative of chaplain's involvement in the public arena; previous chaplain studies on ecumenism, pluralism, and character expectations; and a survey of active duty chaplains and their engagement of institution.
