Abstract
  • The rabbinic residencies program at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion has been in existence for eight years. It was started to give rabbinic students the opportunity to obtain practical rabbinical experience under the guidance and supervision of a trained rabbinic mentor. In this thesis, the author has done an evaluation of the rabbinic residencies program as to its effectiveness in positively influencing the professional and personal growth of participating rabbinic students. The author has suggested that the program would be enhanced by a stronger, purposeful grounding in Jewish models of mentoring.
