- Abstract
- Controversial issues such as AIDS can be dealt with in the church setting by facing fears and diversity of opinion directly through a broad-based educational program. This project describes the AIDS crisis as a test case for Christ's mandate to 'love one another as I have loved you.' Details include a month-long educational emphasis with adult and youth classes, a community-wide seminar, bulletin board display, sermon outline and preparations for formulating an AIDS policy statement. The success of this project rests in its pro-active stance to fear and affirms healthy diversity and tension within a congregation.
