Abstract
  • This project involved a pastoral-based support to hospital staff. The emphasis was upon supplementing conventional components of stress-management by allowing spirituality to influence perception of untoward events. the bias is that each individual possesses a spiritual core, and therefore, any effort to manage stress minus such an emphasis is truncated, and with limited effectiveness. The relational nature nature of the concepts of imago Dei and compassion provide theological justification and sufficient grounds for a nonsectarian approach in a secular environment. By adding spirituality to conventional approaches, the educational effort is therefore considered to be holistic.
