Abstract
  • The objective of this thesis was to determine what spiritual disciplines are being practiced by a group of evangelical pastors and what personal benefits they perceive from those practices. Data was collected from interviews of twenty pastors. Content analysis was then applied to the interviews to evaluate surface patterns, shared experiences, uniquenesses, etc. Some problem areas such as professional versus personal, schedule demands, personality factors, and a mechancial approach to spiritual disciplines are discussed. Recommendations are made which may enhance a pastor's practice of spiritual disciplines such that ministry flows out of character primarily as opposed to professional skill.
