Abstract
  • This project addresses the need to teach laymen to give more than testimonies or devotional thoughts in Christian public speaking. It argues that all churches should equip laymen to preach expository sermons for both theological and practical reasons. The author conducted a seminar in a Christian (Plymouth) Brethren context. The twenty hour seminar taught the basics of Bible study methods, hermeneutics and homiletics. It followed generally the model of biblical preaching developed by Haddon Robinson. Student scores on the testing tool increased greatly. Detailed lesson plans and evaluation forms are included in the appendix.
