- Abstract
- The present direction of campus ministry is toward relationship with local churches where there may be a resource and strong ministry of support for campus religious life. This links campus and parish ministries in taking advantage of the model for community life, spiritual growth and service. A model of this kind of nurturing ministry and analysis of its inherent Christian value forms the basis of this study. The model is limited to ministry to and with students, not the total academic community. It is a new plan of ministry that involves the local parish, campus ministry, student and local clergy. After a discussion of campus life and attitudes and approaches to campus ministry during the 1960s and 1970s, the author proposes volitional theology as the basis for a practical model of campus ministry in the 1980s.
