Abstract
  • This study contains both theory and practice of ministry to chronic pain patients. The practical aspects of this project began with a presentation of case histories. An analysis of these cases revealed that these patients' histories contained eight 'pain themes.' The spiritual care checklists (an instrument) used as a counseling tool with the pain patients were compared with those used with a control group of medical/surgical patients. A seven-step model of ministry was offered to the chronic pain patients which was evaluated.
