  • When cultural conflict comes to church: understanding the rural-urban collision
Abstrait
  • Many North American rural communities are affected by ongoing urbanization and a resultant urban-rural cultural collision. Socio-cultural misunderstanding hampers relational harmony and ministry effectiveness in affected churches. In response to this problem, the researcher surveyed rurban leaders in three geographic regions of the United States, identified the major recurrent components of the rurban collision, and made recommendations to church leaders concerning how to effectively lead in the presence of rurban socio-cultural tension. The project informs the discipline of pastoral leadership concerning recognition of the rurban intercultural collision, assessment of its impact, and suggests a model for an effective response.
