Abstract
  • This exploratory project examines how women perceive the impact of pastoral counseling on their understanding and experience of their faith. A qualitative research methodology was used to interview twelve women who have been clients in pastoral counseling. The findings demonstrate that pastoral counseling does facilitate growth in women's faith lives when the process is sensitive to women's unique experience of themselves, of their relationships, and of their God. This study challenges pastoral counselors to develop new models which clearly articulate the language, concepts, and images of faith within the counseling process itself.
