Abstract
  • In this paper, I shall propose that to help clergy remain faithful to their call, there needs to be balance between the pastor's personal faith that began with justification and continues through on-going spiritual formation and pastor's public role. This public role as prophet, priest and servant, derives from Christ our prophet, priest and king. I shall demonstrate the vital link that should exist between scripture, prayer and spiritual direction in creating balance between personal faith and public role because when this relationship breaks down, a pastor might be heading towards a breakdown of some sort.
