Abstract
  • This project examines the role of district superintendents in the Wesleyan Church, comparing it to the responsibilities of similar officers in other denominations of the Wesleyan tradition, in order to produce a manual for Wesleyan superintendents. The project explores biblical and theological foundations for church supervision and leadership and examines the historical application of these principles in John Wesley and the Methodist movement. The manual also draws on surveys of district superintendents of several denominations, along with selected pastors and laypersons.
