Abstract
  • This paper reports the experience of one congregation during a three year project in which groups of lay people worked with the minister to present worship and sermons together. Based upon the premise that the life of a congregation flows from the center point of worship, this thesis examines what impact an inclusive model for worship, including preaching, has on a congregation with a desire to be more totally inclusive. Although traditional diversity, such as multiculturalism, is a part of this inclusivity, it goes beyond that definition to encompass as many voices of congregants as possible. the impact of the basic premise is examined in light of the project experience, as well as supporting theologies, and homiletic trends. It goes on to evaluate the replicability of this experiment in other settings and makes recommendations for how to do so.
