Abstract
  • This thesis project examines the process of leadership succession in the local church. It is a study of ten Brethren churches in Singapore. Using the case study method, the study considers the process undertaken by the churches in identifying potential leaders, encouraging and preparing them for leadership, and appointing them to assume full leadership responsibilities in the local churches as elders, thus ensuring leadership continuity. The analysis of the research was synthesized into twelve significant observations. The study drew ten principles that local churches can adopt for success in leadership succession.
