Abstract

The purpose of this project was to equip a selected group of believers to become spiritual mentors. The project director developed the Spiritual Mentor Workshop to train people to mentor others in discipling relationships. Research yielded valuable information in the fields of mentoring, discipleship, and curriculum design to accomplish this goal. The workshop was a seven-week training event that equipped twelve people, six men and six women, to be spiritual mentors. The project director used various evaluative measures, including assistance from academic expert Dr. Jerry Pounds and educational expert Carol Passmore, to analyze the project. The workshop launched spiritual mentoring as a disciple-making strategy at His Church in Pineville. The project director will offer the Spiritual Mentor Workshop as an equipping tool on an annual basis at His Church and is prepared to teach the workshop in other ministry venues.
