Abstract

The purpose of this project was to equip selected leaders of Woodridge Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, in planning and goal setting for their assigned ministry areas from the context of the church's established vision for ministry. Training included six instructional sessions with materials derived from research on key principles of goal setting and planning. The first session contained the biblical and theological rationale for goal setting and planning. Sessions two and three explored definitions, key principles, and processes of goal setting. Session four examined planning programs and events from stated goals. Session five included an explanation of the purpose statement of Woodridge Baptist Church from the pastor and participants who write actual goals for their ministry area. The final session required participants to plan an event or program in light of the goals they set for their ministry area.
