Abstract
  • 'A guide for activating laity for discipleship' created effective outreach by mobilizing the church laity. The model motivated an urban church to reach the surrounding community with laity teams to foster spiritual growth, numerical growth and community inclusiveness. The twelve-week project results were evaluated by quantitative and qualitative analysis including interviews and surveys. The results were renewal of the congregation, community outreach events and the development of a Home Nursing program. Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Mobile, Alabama, has created an informed model that can be implemented with enthusiasm and grace in many church settings.
