Abstract
  • The author believes that the local church must be involved in intentionally developing individuals who are growing in their leadership abilities for its various ministries, as well as the family life of its members and broader community. The author explores issues foundational to the leadership development process and suggests a smallgroup, disciple-making approach as suitable for an introductory methodology in the local church. He then designs, implements, and evaluates a specific developmental process. Included is a group leader's manual for the smallgroup coursework as an appendix. Conclusions are that people are willing and capable of being trained for ministry leadership, and that an effective and efficient smallgroup program can be implemented in the local church.
