Abstrakt

This project proposes that declining, mainline, traditional congregations in changing cultural environments can be transformed through encountering Christ in the strangers in the neighborhood. Based on a case study of a congregation founded 44 years earlier in a homogeneous, white, middle-class community that is now diverse ethnically and culturally, the project concludes that faithful encounter with the changing community will lead to a new, hopeful beginning for the church as it seeks to become vital in a global village.
