Abstract
  • This project explored using Thomas à Kempis' 'The Imitation of Christ' as a way to promote spiritual formation through small groups. Material was developed to teach about spiritual formation. The first ten chapters of the book were developed into a ten-week group experience. Each week the participants read and meditated on the text, then discussed it through questions that were drafted by the author. The effectiveness of the ten-week series was measured by giving questionnaires at the beginning and end of the series. The results showed that the participants better understood spiritual formation, displayed spiritual growth and appreciated the book.
