Abstract
  • This paper is a case study of ecumenical crisis in United States Christianity as experienced in a campus ministry at the University of Illinois. It proposes that the experience is linked to an anomic crisis in the US social construction of reality. It contends that the ecclesial region is called to transfer allegiance from central power structures to forces struggling to construct a just, participatory and sustainable society. It combines the sociology of knowledge, macrosociology and conflictual analysis in an initial attempt at tracing an outline for a theology of resistance in the praxis of campus ministry.
