Abstract
  • Children who participate in their church's sacraments of baptism and communion have a more enhanced awareness of the church as a 'community of faith' than children who have not received and do not receive the sacraments. Pastors in six Protestant denominations responded to questionnaires. Children from four Protestant denominations were surveyed. The data is described and analyzed. Children in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) seem to have less membership identity than children in the Lutheran and Episcopal churches. Ways to enhance the nurturing process within the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) are presented and discussed.
