Abstract
  • This study is to affirm the biblical, sociological, historical and denominational foundations of a cross-racial appointment and to evaluate its contribution in forming an inclusive church. Suggestions are made for more effective cross-racial appointments. The method used in the survey of local congregations and the educational forums for the pastors and laity on the conference level. Even though the general experience of cross-racial appointments is positive, it is still being tolerated rather than being fully accepted. The need for carefully planned implementation of 'open itineracy,' for commitment to establish social justice, for education of the pastors and laity, and for the spiritual transformation is urgent.
