Abstract
  • Based on the experience of the author through serving as an interim pastor in four Southern Baptist churches in Texas, Georgia and California, he highly recommends the use of the intentional interim pastor in churches following the forced termination of the previous pastor. Through the work of a transition committee during a six to twenty-four month period on a five part self-study examining the history, polity, denominational linkage, vision and commitment to new leadership the church will identify inherent problematic issues and keep them from resurfacing in the tenure of the next pastor. A variety of helpful appendixes are included.
