Abstract
  • The project is to construct an effective paradigm of pastoral care for the first-generation Korean-American church. Chapters 1 and 7 introduce and conclude. Chapters 2-4 examine the history and problems of immigrants, church, and pastoral models respectively through academic research. Chapter 5 presents results of questionnaires and interviews. Two chronic problems are dysfunctionality of the church and marginalization of immigrants. Chapter 6 proposes the contextual christological model. The new model is to correct dysfunctionality and to reduce marginalization through the practice of the church's proper functions: salvation, koinonia, prayer, worship, and inclusiveness.
