Abstract
  • This project implements a strategy for assimilating adult new members into Spring Hill Baptist Church in Lancaster South Carolina. The biblical support for the project is established through examining the Old Testament inclusions of 'sojourners' and New Testament concepts of discipleship, spiritual gifts, and loving others. Psychological factors of assimilation are established through Abraham Mallows' hierarchy of needs. Church models and secular models are examined also. Chapter four sets forth the actual components of the project: membership class, membership interview, fellowship ministry, and a sermon series on 'Keeping People.' Chapter five reveals that the membership class and membership interview were the most effective components of the project. It also shows the positive and negative elements of the fellowship ministry and the sermon series.
