- Abstract
- Research indicates that boring sermons are a major reason why people do not go to church. While pastors try their best to arouse interest in their hearers, their training has not prepared them to be interesting. Seminary has laid a foundation of how to be accurate to a text, clear to one main point, relevant to people's needs, but as predictable as the want ads. They have been trained one way to preach. As a result, their sermons are predictable. Each sermon looks alike in sermon design and in sermon delivery. This study reveals the principles and techniques that can make expository preaching unpredictably interesting.
